Sorry Charlie – it’s Ashton Kutcher who’s winning.
The 31-year-old star of “That 70s Show” is close to sealing a big bucks deal to replace Charlie Sheen in “Two and a Half Men,” the Hollywood Reporter said tonight.
CBS, studio Warner Bros. and Kutcher’s reps declined to comment but two insiders said a deal is all but signed.
How much Kutcher will get paid to star in TV’s No.1 comedy isn’t known yet but one of the sources said he’s getting a “huge payday.”
Hugh Grant reportedly was offered $1 million an episode to step into Sheen’s shoes.
When Grant passed, a deal was quickly hammered out with Kutcher, the Twitter-happy husband of Demi Moore.
Sources say “Men” creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio.
“It’s really funny,” says one source. “People are going to love it.”
This would be the first regular series gig for Kutcher, who starred in the hit movie “No Strings Attached” with Natalie Portman, since “That 70s Show.”
He also executive produced the hit MTV hidden-camera series “Punk’d,” among others.
Not only does Kutcher bring a young fan base to the CBS show, but also his 6.7 Twitter followers, a huge promotional boost for the show.
Kutcher did not comment, other than a remark on Twitter.
