I HATE TO BREAK IT BUT LEBRON JAMES IS THE GREATEST PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME

There is no more totally irrelevant argument to base GOAT status on than this one. It is totally bogus. When people start using team titles as a measure of individual greatness, I immediately dismiss their arguments as worthless. Titles are–for your information–TEAM achievements, and always have been. By that standard, there is no other choice for GOAT than Bill Russell. I think there are also a couple more Celtics –Havlicek?–with at least as many–and I think maybe even one more–than the six won by the Bulls of Jordans era.

Individual accolades–DPOY, scoring titles, MVPs, All-Star selections–are to some extent legitmate measures of a player’s greatness, but team titles are irrelevant, and including them as a measure of individual greatness betrays a complete lack of understanding of the nature of basketball and gives credit where credit may not be due.
