Carmelo Anthony doesn’t think Phil Jackson’s presence with the New York Knicks will have an impact on his impending free agency.

“I don’t think it’ll have any effect on me, just as far as what I’m thinking or my decision or anything like that,” Anthony told reporters after the team’s shootaround in Boston on Wednesday morning. “Like I said, I haven’t talked to Phil yet, just to get his insight on a lot of things — what’s his plan, what’s his future plan — because everything’s in his hands now.”

Anthony said the team told him earlier this week that Jackson would be joining its front office.

The Ohio State basketball teams will have a late present waiting for them when they return to the hardwood following the winter holiday. According to The Columbus Dispatch’s Bob Baptist, Value City Arena is getting a new floor that will be ready after Christmas. The design rivals that of Illinois’, particularly the school logo at midcourt superimposed over an outline of the state of Ohio.
Ohio State fans should enjoy this new feature, because it was a staple at St. John Arena. No, it’s not the same logo as the one in the old gym, but it’s a modern nod to it.
Other than that, the free-throw lanes, like the state outline at midcourt, will be stained darker, the “B1G” logo will be added below each free-throw line, and a Buckeye logo will sit at each corner of the court.

Wisconsin Coach Bret Bielema agreed to become the new coach at Arkansas, taking over a program that stumbled from scandal into an awful season that had begun with hopes of challenging for a national championship. Arkansas had brought in John L. Smith for this season after firing Bobby Petrino when he hired his mistress to work in the football department. Arkansas finished 4-8, and Smith was dismissed. Wisconsin won the Big Ten championship game on Saturday in a 70-31 romp over Nebraska to secure its third straight trip to the Rose Bowl. The Badgers will play Stanford on Jan. 1
